Tami Enright, the driving force behind The Bee Cause Project, is on a mission to cultivate a generation of bee enthusiasts. Her passion lies in educating both adults and children, with a special focus on fostering appreciation for pollinators and rekindling students' connection with the natural world, all while nurturing a sense of environmental stewardship.
This remarkable journey began within Tami's own family. When her four children were in their formative years, she introduced a hive into their backyard, unveiling an entirely new world of wonder and discovery. Recognizing the transformative power of this experience, Tami felt compelled to share it with more children, aiming to bridge the gap between the food on their plates and the pollinators buzzing in their own backyards.
"The challenges faced by our pollinators are real," Tami emphasizes as co-founder of The Bee Cause Project. For her, inspiring students to become stewards of the environment is a powerful step towards creating a brighter, more sustainable world.
Kate joined the Conservancy in May 2022 as Director of Horticulture. Kate’s love of Horticulture and Gardens developed at a very early age working with her mother in their home garden and having the opportunity to travel and visit historic gardens around the world at a young age. After graduating from Ohio University with a degree in Environmental Geography, Kate found her way back to the Lowcountry and to Horticulture, graduating with her Associate's degree in Horticulture from Trident Technical College.
Her love of travel pushed her to accept an internship with the French Heritage Society studying in several French Gardens including Chateau de Brecy, Chateau de Valmer, and Chateau d’Acquigny. Upon returning to Charleston, Kate began her career with Magnolia Plantation and Gardens. While there, she managed the Horticulture Department, led the 200-plus volunteer contingent, conceptualized the Gilliard Garden Center, developed their camellia website and database, and designed the exquisite annual and perennial beds.
